Coverage

This coverage will only take effect if the customer provides all required documentation, including but not limited to: police traffic report, coverage claim form, and a personal statement submitted to the corresponding traffic court. If the customer declines this coverage, they will be responsible for paying all damages to the rental vehicle up to its full value. This coverage does not include towing services, expenses, or vandalism (including partial theft).

Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) is highly recommended in Costa Rica in addition to basic liability coverage. It only applies if the driver is found liable by a court of law or if the drivers involved accept responsibility. The liability protection provided by Budget and the SLI carrier becomes primary and applies before any other liability protection available to you. You will likely not need to rely on any other protection unless the loss exceeds the SLI limit or results from your use of the vehicle in violation of the rental agreement terms.

If I accept the Personal Accident and Effects (PAE) coverage, I will be protected against accidental injury or death up to ₡10,000,000 (approximately $21,000) per injured or deceased person, regardless of driver responsibility, with no deductible. In the event of accidental medical expenses, coverage will be provided up to ₡6,000,000 (approximately $10,000) per incident regardless of the number of passengers, with a 10% deductible for medical-surgical rehabilitation, pharmaceutical expenses, and partial or total disability coverage resulting from an accident while occupying the rental vehicle.

Includes battery jump-start service, locksmith assistance, towing service, and tire replacement. It also provides fast emergency support, 24-hour roadside assistance, and help resolving unexpected situations that may affect your trip.
